Q: What documents are needed for Financial Review?
A: Completed Virginia Medicaid Application and 3 months of bank statements. We'll review and submit to DSS. (our patient advocate will provide on-site assistance if needed)

Q: What type of services are provided?
A: Physical, Occupational, Speech and Respiratory Therapies. RN's, LPN's, CNA's. Social Worker. Medical MD, Pulmonologist, Nurse Practitioner, Wound Care Surgeon and Nurse, Podiatrist, Optometrist and Dietician. All licensed and experienced in the care of the ventilator dependent population. Critical Lab testing, X-ray, Ultrasound and Vital Stem.

Q: What type of Activities programs are offered to enhance quality of life?
A: We offer a on site beauty salon, an activities program that provides our residents with the opportunities to attend community events. Such as county fairs, monster truck shows, seasonal festivals and zoo's just to name a few! Full schedule of in house activities that include: arts and crafts, bingo, music, parties, family dinners and wii games are just some of the fun we have on a daily basis. All of our activities are centered around therapies and quality of life for our residents. Something as simple as going outside and enjoying the fresh country air is one of the most popular experiences for our residents.

Q: How are you different from a “Nursing Home”?
A: Unlike your typical nursing facility, where you’ll find long-term care and short-term rehab residents. A “jack of all trades” so to speak. Here at the Brian Center, we specialize in the ventilator dependent resident. You’ll be in the company of residents who have like goals and a staff trained and who’s #1 focus is quality of life for the ventilated resident! Hence, a greater clinical skill set.

24/7 respiratory therapist, 8:1 resident to RT ratio, aggressive weaning program as well as a home for long-term ventilator residents, respite care for home ventilator patients, portable ventilators, very aggressive infectious control policy, point of emphasis on the importance of diet and breathing – overseen by a Board Certified dietician.
